JOHN C. CORROUGH

TCCG Role: John C. Corrough is president and principal consultant of The Corrough Consulting Group (TCCG), a Southern California-based corporation which provides comprehensive waterfront, coastal, resort and mar396 planning and design consulting services to private entity and public agency clients throughout the USA and internationally.

Experience Overview: Mr. Corrough has been responsible for the planning, design and implementation of a wide range of maritime projects involving the development, renovation, and conservation of coastal and inland waterfront and water-dependent areas. These include: private and public marinas and small craft harbors berthing more than 90,000 vessels; megayacht marinas; coastal tourism plans and waterfront resorts; urban waterfront and working commercial port revitalizations; naval bases; waterfront residential communities, boatyards, boat storage, launching facilities; yacht clubs; ferry and cruise ship docking facilities and terminals; beaches; coastal and estuarine wetlands and wildlife preserves; as well as Olympic yachting and rowing facilities and courses (Los Angeles '84) He also consults on waterfront, resort and mar396 facility management, sale, purchase valuation, operations financial analysis.

Additional Experience: His waterfront technical expertise and experience is strengthened by more than four decades of practical experience and responsibility in the ownership, operation, delivery and maintenance of a wide range of recreational, commercial and transportation vessels, the construction and operation of marinas and harbors and as an officer and member of US/NZ yacht clubs and a partner in US & Brazil mar396 ownerships.

Prior Employment: For twenty-six years prior to his founding of The Corrough Consulting Group in 1986, Mr. Corrough held ownership, management, project management and technical positions with several major U.S.-based international planning, architectural and landscape architecture design firms, and development consulting firms. These firms included Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (architecture, planning, engineering); Gruen Associates (architecture, planning, engineering); Booz, Allen, Hamilton/Development Research Associates (management consulting and real estate economics); EDAW, Inc. (planning, landscape architecture, environmental analysis). His public sector employment includes roles as architect and planner at two St. Louis-region government agencies and as a regional architect and planner, resident in North Africa, with an overseas agency of the U.S. State Department.

Education: Educated as an architect, urban designer and planner (BS '62, M. Arch'64, M. Urban Design '67; Washington University in St. Louis), he has also completed post-graduate studies in real estate economics, landscape architecture, environmental analysis, and site, civil, and coastal engineering (Brown University/Rhode Island School of Design, U S C, Univ. of California at LA, University of Utah ). He continues his education through seminars, conferences & classes.

Awards: Projects and professional teams for which Mr. Corrough has been responsible have received a number of awards for excellence in planning and design from the American Institute of Architects, American Planning Association, American Society of Landscape Architects, and other organizations. These include the 1984 Olympic Games (watersports venues) , the Cabrillo Marina Complex in Los Angeles Harbor, Catalina Island Master Plan and others. He is also the principal waterfront and marine facilities designer of the winning international competition entries in the Kuwait City (Kuwait) Waterfront Design and Development and Fortaleza (Brazil) Port and Waterfront Development , and was chosen as the US consultant on the Soulanges Canal Regional Tourism Plan, Montreal, Canada.

Speeches/Publications/Teaching: He has served as a visiting instructor and guest lecturer at many U.S. and international universities, and a speaker at numerous U.S. and international professional society, government association, and maritime-oriented technical and business conferences. Mr. Corrough has authored and co-authored over 90 technical papers and articles on waterfront, coastal, marina, and resort planning and development.

Memberships/Directorships: Mr. Corrough is a Member of the American Planning Association, American Institute of Architects, American Society of Landscape Architects, International Marina Institute, States Organization for Boating Access, International Navigation Association, and the Urban Land Institute. He is also a Director of the California Marine Parks and Harbors Association, World Marina Conference, Inc., City of Newport Beach Harbor Commission, Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce Marine Committee, and the APA Resort & Tourism Division. Internationally, he is a founding director of the Brazilian Institute of Marinas, Marinas Do Brasil, a Brazilian mar396/resort design, development firm, TSPYC (NZ) and Waterfront Development Consultants, Pte, Ltd. (Singapore).


MARY E. CORROUGH
Vice President, The Corrough Consulting Group

TCCG Role: Mary E. Corrough is vice-president and co-owner, as well as principal economic consultant, of The Corrough Consulting Group (TCCG), a California-based corporation which provides comprehensive waterfront, coastal, resort and mar396 planning and design consulting services to private entity and public agency clients throughout the United States of America and international locations

Experience Overview: Mrs. Corrough has been responsible for market research, site research, real estate, and financial analysis efforts on a wide range of maritime projects involving the development, renovation, and conservation of coastal and inland waterfront and water-dependent areas, including: private and public marinas and small craft harbors; coastal tourism plans and resorts; urban waterfront and commercial port revitalizations; waterfront residential communities, boatyards / boat storage / launching facilities; and special-purpose facilities such as yacht clubs, beach clubs and beach sports areas as well as public waterfront recreation and watersports facilities.

She is also responsible for assembling and monitoring and updating the TCCG and market and technical data bases and library resources, and has performed extensive research and analysis efforts for a number of the professional and technical papers and speeches given by TCCG principals at U.S. and international conferences. Additionally, she maintains the TCCG contacts with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the World Bank, Latin American Development Bank, Ex-Im Bank, and other government and financial agencies and entities involved in international development.

Additional Experience: In addition to her market and economic analysis efforts, she has performed diverse site and facility research efforts throughout the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Tunisia, Scandinavia, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. These have included field interviews, site land and water area analyses, underwater site and navigability analyses, still and video photography, and complex data source identification, data gathering and analysis assignments with public agencies, sports and marine trade associations, and private corporations on various aspects of water tourism and recreation.

Her waterfront commercial operations and watersports technical expertise and experience is further enhanced by more than three decades of practical experience and responsibility in the ownership, operation, delivery and maintenance of recreational power and sail vessels, as well as extensive experience in sportfishing, competitive sailing and competitive watersports, and sail cruising/charter operations.

Prior Employment: Prior to her co-founding (with John Corrough) of The Corrough Consulting Group in 1987, Mrs. Corrough’s professional experience included: serving as a market and financial analyst with the firm of John C. Corrough, Marina Consultant; real estate sales and market analysis as an agent with the national real estate firm of Coldwell Banker; as a retail market analyst and buyer with a major California department store chain, and; as an accounting clerk with the Ford Motor Company.

Awards: Projects in which Mrs. Corrough has been involved which have won professional and association awards include: the Fortaleza (Brazil) Port and Waterfront Development Competition and the Soulanges Canal Regional Tourism Plan (Canada). She has also won a number of national and international awards in various athletic and watersports competitions and has received national recognition as a sports administrator.

Education: Educated as an economist (Bachelor of Science; Washington University in St. Louis), as well as in business and paralegal fields ( California State Universities, UCLA) she has also completed post-graduate studies in real estate, tourism and the travel industry at universities in the US and UK, and through participation in professional and industry seminars, conferences and classes in the US and internationally.

Memberships and Directorships: Mrs. Corrough is an associate member of the Urban Land Institute, the California Marine Parks & Harbors Association and a member of the National Association of Scholastic Sports Officials. She also is a member of the California Yacht Club and Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce, Balboa Island Improvement Association, Catalina Island Conservancy, and Newport Harbor Maritime Museum.
