WHAT'S NEW

A Recap of Our First 18 Months in our New Location and a Projects Update for

Our Clients, Associates, and Friends - Past, Present & Future

Our First Year and a Half on the Bayfront

We are now well-established and enjoying our new Newport Harbor bayfront/pier location on Balboa Island, and in particular the land and water visits from many friends and clients during the past year. You are among (the more distinguished of ) the many tens of thousands of folks who have passed by our front door, enjoying the beach, the Christmas Boat Parades, art shows, yacht races, the walk to the BI Ferry to the Newport Peninsula ocean piers / beaches, the Catalina Ferry at the Pavilion, as well as other Newport Beach attractions. We continue to be mistaken for a restaurant, bar, model home, home office service center, public pier, tourism information center, parking lot, and event-viewing location, but itÕs all part of being in a very active waterfront tourism destination. Drop by -coffee and other beverages, a spot on the pier and sunshine are always free to friends !

New Telephone / Fax Area Code

No sooner do we get used to our new stationery and business cards (and distribute them to all of you), than the glorious telephone company changes an Orange County institution, our 714 area code!  As of April 18 1998, the new area code for The Corrough Consulting Group is 949, so:

TCCG Telephone: (1) (949) 673-8077; TCCG Fax: (1) (949) 673-8027

(our email and website addresses remain the same)

Website Construction

A number of you have noted that our website www. marina-consultants.com appears to be still in construction, and doesnÕt always directly link with the office. Others have asked us to link with their sites. We will make a concerted effort to upgrade the site in the next months, to what we had intended and what you desire. Please bear with us and in the meantime, contact us by Email -  JCorrough@aol.com or telephone, fax or mail. Thanks

First Quarter 1998 Project and Clients

We completed a record eleventh year in December 1997, and started 1998 with a wide range of U.S. and international projects for existing and new clients:

¥ West Channel Development Area/Los Angeles Harbor: As consultants to the Port of Los Angeles, (CA) we continue to assist on the privatization plans of the existing 1500-boat Cabrillo Marina and development of the Cabrillo Phase 2 Area, as well other assignments covering commercial development of the Port.

¥ Dana Point Harbor: In our consulting role for major lessees during the DPH Redevelopment and Re-Leasing Plan underway by Orange County (CA) we and our team associates (KMG Consulting and Kaku Associates) have prepared redevelopment and releasing plans and programs and analyzed market trends for trailered and stack-stored boats, sportsfishing, and waterfront commercial uses, as well as for the refurbishment of the 15-lane launch ramp, new parking facilities, and new public facilities.

¥ Channel Islands Harbor: We are part of a consulting team (KMG Consulting and MIG) advising the Harbor Department of Ventura County (CA) on the development of a Master Plan and Re-Leasing Plan for this important regional harbor of over 2000 boats north of the Los Angeles area, which serves recreational and commercial fishing acitivites and is an important ferry and ecotourism base for the offshore Channel Islands National Park.

¥ Alamitos Bay Marina: A new project for Ô98, our consulting role for the City of Long Beach (CA) Marinas and Beaches Department involves the preparation of a new Master Plan and Operations Recommendations for this mar396 and water recreation area which was the first ÒmodernÓ mar396 in California, and serves as the base for the Transpac Race, Congressional Cup, Olympic Trials (as well as Ô32 Rowing and Ô84 Yachting Olympics), and many other major yachting events.

¥ Stack Storage Facilities: California seems to have finally caught up with the FL dry stack storage approach, with solid proposals for several facilities in the Southern California region, both coastal and on inland lakes and rivers. Our participation in cludes market and site analysis, technology reviews, and development plans for three confidential clients in different SoCal locations.
